The Alhambra Educational Foundationis the official fundraising partner of the Alhambra Unified School District, and has given more than $2.8 million to benefit our schools and students since 1993. We are the only non-profit that raises funds to benefit all AUSD schools and every student. The AEF is a California 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The tax ID is 95-4429310. Donations to AEF are tax-deductible to the full extent of applicable Federal and State tax laws. AEF is a nonprofit that relies on your tax-deductible donations to help support all AUSD schools and students. The Foundation submits financial grant request to numerous private foundations who support public education and community service.

    Al Parker Memorial Fund

    Al Parker was a traveling art teacher in the AUSD for 35 years. We mourn his passing in his home in southern France and in lieu of flowers ask that you donate to the AEF.

    Purpose of this fund: Funds raised on his behalf will be used to buy art supplies for Alhambra’s elementary schools. Your donations are tax deductible.

    Barry Glick Memorial Fund

    Barry Glick was a 7th grade teacher at Brightwood School for over 36 years. Barry loved his family, his country, and his music. He lived a life of service.

    Purpose of this fund: To benefit Brightwood Elementary School and students through educational programs that challenge and reach ALL students by encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, leadership, and activism as inspired by Barry Glick.

    Dr. LaVonne Wood Literacy Fund

    Dr. LaVonne Wood was a longtime Alhambra School District principal and teacher. She share in the belief that every child deserves an opportunity to own books, learn how to read and obtain the fundamental building blocks to achieve their highest potential.

    Purpose of this fund: Will support our continued participation in the Reading is Fundamental (RIF) program and encourage students to continue to read, learn and grow.

    John “Johnny” Thompson Memorial Fund

    Johnny Thompson was literally connected to music his whole life. Born and raised in the city of Monterey Park, he devoted his life to serving the San Gabriel Valley community through his JT Music Store and invaluable support to all the music and art programs in the schools.

    Purpose of this fund: Donations in his name will benefit the Alhambra Educational Foundation and its mission to support fund the K-12 Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) in the Alhambra USD.

  • Julie Romelle Hadden's Scholarship Fund

    Julie was the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services at the Alhambra Unified School District Office and was promoted to be the Alhambra School District Superintendent. Julie was known for her administrative skills, her sensitivity, her creativity, her humor, and her love of life. Julie touched many lives and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and students. Rest in peace, Dr. Hadden!

    Purpose of this fund: Graduating seniors pursuing a degree or program of study in education. Minimum cumulative GPA 3.0

  • Lorraine Tom's Memorial Scholarship

    Lorraine Tom was a teacher and librarian at San Gabriel High School for over 40 years. She was dedicated to helping her students excel and her life was a true reflection of service, love and generosity. 

    In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to AEF in Lorraine’s name.

    Purpose of this fund: AEF will partner with San Gabriel High School to establish a scholarship to honor Lorraine’s legacy’s as a librarian who understood that every child has the opportunity to read.

    Lillian Kimura's Math Memorial Scholarship

    Lillian Kimura, a retired teacher of Mathematics at Mark Keppel HS, devoted many years of her life to educating students on the study of mathematics and important life lessons on commitment, self-reliance, and goal setting.

    Purpose of this fund: The funds will go towards a Math Memorial Scholarship in her memory, to award future Mark Keppel Calculus students.

    Rudy Chavez's Memorial Scholarship

    Rudy Chavez, principal of Mark Keppel High School from 1983-1998. He was an educator for most of his life, a teacher, a department head, a counselor, and principal. He loved his students and never missed a varsity football game. People know him with his "cowboy hat."

    Purpose of this fund: The funds will go toward a scholarship to a MKHS student pursuing a higher degree in public education.
