On behalf of AEF, I want to wish everyone a warm welcome as we begin a new school year. The first day back is more than just a date on the calendar — it’s a fresh chapter filled with opportunity, growth, and possibility.
Whether you are starting school for the very first time, stepping into a new grade, or returning to familiar hallways, this is your moment to dream big, work hard, and support one another. Our foundation remains committed to ensuring every student has the resources, access, and encouragement needed to thrive — in the classroom and beyond.
Let’s make this year one of learning, kindness, and achievement. Together, we can turn challenges into opportunities and goals into realities.
Here’s to a fantastic school year ahead!
We also have some exciting events coming up!
Support AEF by purchasing tickets to the Shopping Extravaganza on September 20, 2025, and signing up for the 5K/10K Pumpkin Run on October 26, 2025. These two fundraising events help support many AEF programs throughout the year.

Community Recognition
We are proud to share that AEF was selected by the Reader's Choice Awards for the San Gabriel Valley as Best Non-Profit for 2025! This recognition would not be possible without the support of our community, parents, teachers, students, staff, and everyone who supports Alhambra USD. Thank you for believing in us and in our mission to give back to our schools and community!
Farewell & Congratulations to School Board Member Ken Tang
On August 5, 2025, AUSD School Board Member Ken Tang resigned from his position after being elected as a Director with the California Teachers Association. Ken has been a tremendous supporter of AEF, and more importantly, a dedicated advocate for the students, employees, and community of our district. For the past five years, Ken served as the district liaison to AEF as an ex-officio member. We look forward to hopefully welcoming him to our board once he settles into his new role. Thank you, Ken, for your service and leadership!
Sixth Grade Science Camp – October 13–31, 2025
This year’s Sixth Grade Science Camp will take place from October 13–31. The fall weather will be perfect for outdoor activities, hands-on learning, and bonding time between teachers and students.
Please check your child’s school schedule to see when their class will attend — we need parent chaperones to help make the program a success. As a chaperone, you’ll enjoy free lodging, three meals a day, and plenty of outdoor fun. What more could you ask for?
We’re always looking for passionate parents and community members to join our amazing Board of Directors. Make a difference in our schools by helping provide enriching opportunities for all Alhambra USD students! To learn more, please email Michelle Alcala at malcala@aef4kids.com.
Thank you for your continued support!
